- Call for Submissions
Local artists are invited to submit a design for a three-dimensional award statue, to be awarded to winners of the upcoming Durham Art of Transition Creative Awards (DATCA), a spin-off initiative of the Art of Transition symposium held by Durham Tourism in November 2009. The selected artist will be awarded $2,500 for the statue design concept and any pre-fabrication costs (if applicable).
- Call for nominations for Durham Art of Transition Creative Awards
The Durham Art of Transition Creative Awards will recognize individuals and businesses that are making our community stronger by celebrating and promoting creativity, innovation and collaboration in Durham Region. Nominations are open until noon on Oct. 7. The five award categories are: 1. Best collaboration among business, the arts and the community. 2. Best story about Durham Region in ANY medium. 3. Best entertainment in ANY medium. 4. Best integration of art and culture in the workplace. 5. Best use of art and artists to advance social and environmental sustainability. The awards ceremony will take place following the Durham Tourism Summit, to be held on Nov. 25 at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).

This day-long celebration of Durham Region’s creative economy will showcase our rich history, dynamic attractions, and innovative business community. Listen to a series of speakers and learn more about opportunities for growth in Durham Region. Discover all Durham has to offer through an interactive marketplace of tradeshow booths, culinary samplings, arts, culture, heritage displays and more! Admission is free. The Durham Tourism Summit will conclude with the award ceremony for the first-ever Durham Art of Transition Creative Awards (DATCA).
